Summer Solstice June 20, 2025- June 22, 2025

The Midsummer Pole in downtown Poulsbo

The sun gets our full attention on Midsummer and this is our reminder that we are also just starting Cancer season, a seasoning of softening and listening and feeling. This is a time to honor the suns energy while listening to our bodies. What are we needing. What are we feeling. How can we care for our younger parts today?

Let the sun guide you through this tarot spread. He is your resource. If you follow deities maybe invoke Apollo, Brighid, Epona, Balder, Huitzilopochtli, Thor, Ra, or any other deity that might be calling you.

  1. Feel the warmth of the sun, the deity that you’re working with, the solstice. Allow this energy and warmth to land in your solar pelxus. Maybe take a sun salutation or a superman pose. Just really breathing space into your solar plexus. Pull a card and allow this card to aid you in embodying that warmth.

  2. What are you manifesting! Maybe this is something that you have started manifesting at the beginning of the year or maybe during the Spring equinox. Allow this card to aid you in this manifestation

  3. How can you show up for your community. What can you offer for your community. What is your community needing from you.

  4. How can your community support you. What are you needing from your community.

  5. What are you celebrating! This is always a positive card. If you pull a more shadowy card or a card in reverse ask yourself: what is getting in the way from experiencing the card fully or can I see the hope through this shadow part.

The Summer Solstice is a time for celebration! What are you Celebrating?

I am currently in Southern California for a celebration of life for my aunt who has recently passed away. She always loved summer because she got to spend so much time at the beach, her favorite place. The Summer Solstice is that reminder to celebrate the hard work and planning that we have done earlier in the year and feast on the abundance of the first harvest.

Traditionally during Summer Solstice, we honor the Gods and Goddess of the sun for the warmth that has allowed the crops to flourish. Summer Solstice is meant to be celebrated in community through dance and laughter, typically around a large bonfire. Even if you’re not able to get to a bonfire or if community isn’t available right now, can you hold the fire internally and trust that your community and ancestors are always with you even during your loneliest days.

Let this Tarot spread warm you and guide you as we hit the pivotal point into the shadow realm. The Summer Solstice is the when the sun is out during the day the longest which means the days begin to get shorter. This is the time that we get to face our shadows and some of the deeper healing work begins. But for now we get to just revel in the Sun!
